HOLY WEEK

Holy Week, once called the Great Week, is the last week of the 40-day season of Lent, and commemorates the most important events of our salvation – the passion, death and resurrection of Jesus Christ.  Northminster’s services during Holy Week re-present the dramatic events of the final week of Jesus’ life among us.  Please join us for the profound events of Holy Week, re-presented in each of the beautiful and special liturgies:

PALM/PASSION SUNDAY

Palm/Passion Sunday is the first day of Holy Week.  We will begin in the narthex when we re-present Jesus’ triumphant entry into Jerusalem with a grand procession of palms and boisterous acclamations of faith, special music provided by the Children’s Chime Choir, and a brief sermon message.  Once inside the Sanctuary, the service will feature the dramatic reading of the Passion of Jesus Christ according to St. Luke and responsive prayer on Christ’s passion.  All Northminster families are invited to participate!

MAUNDY THURSDAY

Our Maundy Thursday service on April 2nd at 7:00 PM will commemorate the profound event of the Institution of the Lord’s Supper and honor the giving of the Lord’s new commandment to love one another in our readings, sermon message, and songs.  We will also have the stripping of the altar.  

GOOD FRIDAY PRAYER SERVICE

A deeply contemplative and brief service that marks the profound event of Jesus’ suffering and death on the cross will be held on April 3rd at 12:00 PM.  The Good Friday service will feature the “Seven Last Words of Christ” and solemn prayers.

CHRIST IS RISEN!  CHRIST IS RISEN INDEED!

We invite you to worship and celebrate Easter at 10:00 AM with our full-blown celebration of Christ’s victorious rising.   With the sight and fragrance of Easter lilies permeating our Sanctuary, our Easter Sunday celebration proclaims God’s victory over humanity’s greatest enemy – death.  We will sing songs of triumph boldly proclaiming Christ’s rising from the dead, share a joyous celebration of the Lord’s Supper, and hear a hope filled message of God’s victory.
